AI employee

In one sentence

An AI employee is a software agent sold and priced like a hire: a language model given a job title, standing instructions, and access to some of a company's tools, so it can do a slice of a role on its own. The word employee is a marketing frame, not a legal or organizational fact. Nothing about the software is actually employed: there's no contract, no accountability the way a hire carries it, and no judgment beyond what the model and its instructions produce.

Strip the branding away and what's inside is the same three ingredients every time: a model doing the reasoning, a prompt defining the role and its limits, and a set of tools giving it hands, an inbox, a calendar, a spreadsheet, a store's admin panel. The name and persona on top make it easier to remember which agent does what. They're not evidence of anything closer to a person underneath.

Pricing usually follows the same metaphor it's selling: a monthly fee per named agent, a per-seat subscription, or usage credits metered like a phone bill. A few products bundle a small roster of named agents behind one flat subscription instead of billing each one separately.

Glitch Team Zone avoids the term for its own AI on purpose. It calls it a teammate instead, because the AI works inside the team's own chat with shared memory the whole team can correct, rather than staffing a role alone in its own inbox or dashboard.
