Glossary
AI workspace
In one sentence
An AI workspace is a shared place built around an AI assistant, where a team keeps standing context about the company, connects the tools it runs on, sets permissions for what the AI can see and do, and reads answers the whole team can see and correct. That's different from a personal chatbot, which serves one person with no shared memory, and different from AI features bolted onto a suite of documents or mail, which meet a person inside an app they already had instead of building a place around the AI itself.
The confusion usually comes from Google Workspace, which uses the word workspace for its own product line. Gemini inside Google Workspace is AI added to Docs, Gmail, and Meet, useful exactly where a team's work already lives in those apps. An AI workspace, in the sense this term is used across this site, is built the other way around: the AI is the shared surface, and the tools and documents connect into it, not the other way around.
Products in this category take different shapes. Some, like Notion AI, live inside a document suite. Others, like Dust, are platforms for building custom AI agents on a company's own knowledge. Others are one shared chat the whole company works in, with a single memory across every department instead of a separate AI tool per department.
Glitch Team Zone is a chat-first AI workspace: one AI teammate, one shared memory, ten department surfaces, and permissions built around roles, guest access, and approvals for anything that matters.
